POLITICAL HANDICAPPER CHARLIE COOK TO HEADLINE FRANCHISE APPRECIATION DAY
Washington D.C. – Franchise Appreciation Day, the International Franchise Association’s annual grassroots gathering, will be highlighted by a breakfast address Sept. 26 by Charlie Cook, called “one of the best political handicappers in the nation” by the New York Times. Cook will provide the small-business leaders with a broad overview of upcoming elections, an examination of President Bush’s and Congress’ agendas, and insights on policy-making in Washington.
Franchise business leaders from across the nation will visit Washington D.C., Sept. 25-26 to discuss with members of Congress public policy issues that will help franchising to continue to boost the nation’s economy. Currently, franchising generates $1.53 trillion in economic output and creates one-of-every-seven jobs in the nation’s private-sector economy, according to a study conducted for the IFA Educational Foundation by PricewaterhouseCoopers. The “Economic Impact of Franchised Businesses” study found that there are more than 760,000 franchised small businesses in the U.S. generating more than 18 million jobs.
