Eggs ‘n Things franchise plan: From frying pan into fire
The promising project to expand Eggs ‘n Things has scrambled, and matters are no longer sunny side up for its partners.
Jan Fukunaga, who started Eggs ‘n Things with her late husband, entered into a partnership with David Brustein last year to franchise the restaurant beyond its location at 1911 Kalakaua Ave. in Waikiki. Brustein has now sued her in 1st Circuit Court, asserting she demanded dissolution of the partnership and stopped cooperating with the franchise venture.
“There was a parting of philosophies,” said Brustein’s lawyer, Colin Yost. “David is still very hopeful that this can be resolved amicably.”
“I agree with both statements,” said Fukunaga’s lawyer, Paul Maki.
Yost said Brustein and Fukunaga have been to mediation. Maki said no further mediation is scheduled.
