Krispy Kreme awards franchise rights for Indonesia

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. continued its Asian expansion, awarding development rights for Indonesia to a company there.
The deal, announced in a news release Friday morning, calls for the development of up to 20 new Krispy Kreme shops, with the first to scheduled to open next month.The franchise rights went to PT Premier Doughnut Indonesia, which is principally owned by PT MAP Premier Indonesia. The company is involved in department and specialty retail stores in major Indonesian cities, according to a news release from Krispy Kreme.
“We are pleased to be announcing Krispy Kreme’s expansion into another international market,” Daryl Brewster, Krispy Kreme CEO said in a news release. “We look forward to continued international development as we move forward with the company’s restructuring.”
Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, about one-third of which are inhabited, and has a population of about 245 million.
