Ha Noi to get new supermarkets

The Ha Noi Trade Corporation plans to have more than 50 supermarkets and convenience stores in the capital and neighbouring provinces by early next year.
The corporation is now repairing and upgrading form the Hapro Mart convenience store network, said its General Director Nguyen Huu Thang
The system would then be expanded through franchising.
Consultant AT Kearney rates Viet Nam as the world’s third most attractive retail market with yearly growth rates of up to 30 percent.
It put retail sales at 21 billion USD last year and says there is still great demand for commodities in a market of more 83 million people.
Domestic and international wholesalers and retailers agree.
Germany’s Metro Cash&Carry, and France’s Bourbon have opened, while England’s Tesco, Singapore’s Giant Asia Investment, and Malaysia’s Parkson have studied the market.
Major global corporations, the US-based Wal-Mart and French retailer Carrefour, have included Viet Nam in their plans for expansion.
Domestic wholesalers and retailers have responded by doing their utmost to expand their market share whole bracing for increased international competition.
Earlier this month, G7Mart announced that 500 shops would be built under its umbrella trademark with 50-200 million VND invested in each store .
