Branded eyewear outlet for Greenacres
PORT Elizabeth-headquartered Spec-Savers Group has launched its flagship brand, Execuspecs, at the Greenacres Shopping Centre.
Brian Dowley, chief executive officer of the group, said yesterday that a gap had been identified in the market for an outlet specialising in branded eyewear.
“We believe there is a gap in the market for someone to concentrate on branded eyewear and accessories and we are trying to fill that slot,” he said.
Dowley‘s success with Spec- Savers has been widely recognised. In a recent accolade, he was named the winner of the corporate award in the inaugural The Herald-Absa-NMMU Business School Business Person of the Year competition.
Execuspecs has been rolled out as a franchise, with the Greenacres store being the 15th to open. One more will be opened in Cape Town this year, with 30 more planned for next year. .
“At least 80% of frames on display will be branded optical frames and sunglasses,” said Dowley. “They will encompass all the brands that are popular in South Africa.”
This list includes Ray-Ban, Georgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Tagheuer, Police, Gucci, Diesel, Adidas, Versace, Versus, Levi’s, Silhoutte and Quicksilver.
