Jetset forecasts profit to soar
Travel agency franchiser Jetset Travelworld Group Ltd is expecting a 2006/07 profit 40 per cent better than last year as a result of buoyancy in the international travel market.
Jetset on Wednesday raised its profit forecast for this financial year, saying ventures such as a new online booking service will keep the business growing.
“(Jetset) has forecast a full-year profit increase for 2006/07 of approximately 40 per cent on the result of $8.96 million (after tax) achieved for the 2005/06 financial year,” the Sydney-based company said.
Jetset chairman John King said the new forecast followed the company’s performance at the half-year mark when it significantly increased profit, as well as continued buoyancy in the international travel market.
“The board is particularly pleased with the expected strong result,” Mr King said.
“On the basis that the forecast positive trends reinforced by our third quarter results continue, we expect to deliver to our shareholders an enhanced result for the 2006/07 financial year.”
Jetset has about 665 travel agencies across Australia operating under the Jetset and Travelworld retail travel brands.
