Vietnam electronics mart ties up with Japanese supermarket
The Ho Chi Minh City-based Ben Thanh Marketing, the owner of Carings home appliances, is set to become a franchisee in Vietnam for leading electronics supermarket Japanese Best Denki Corp.
A Ben Thanh spokesman said it was looking for a location in the city to set up the first Best Denki electronics store – measuring at least 2,000 sq.m – later this year or early next year.
The two companies inked the franchise deal last year under which the Japanese firm will provide technical and marketing backing.
In return, Ben Thanh will pay a certain fee for the use of the Best brand.
The Best Denki Corporation will help its Vietnamese partner implement new management methods, improve services and train staff.
Joining forces with Denki is part of Ben Thanh’s long-term development strategy which targets to increase the number of its stores from two to 10, mainly in major cities like Hanoi, Hai Phong, HCMC, Danang, and Can Tho.
They are projected to generate revenues of VND2 trillion (US$125 million) by 2012.
Denki is now negotiating with Ben Thanh to establish a joint venture for distributing electronic products, with the aim of becoming one of the biggest in Vietnam in the next five years.
