Franchising seminar offers scholarships
Prospective entrepreneurs can learn the ins and outs of franchising at the University of Texas at El Paso Franchise Center’s semiannual 2 1/2-day intensive seminar in October.
Twelve scholarships available for the conference will cover tuition, lunches and materials, and the Sept. 28 deadline to apply is fast approaching, organizers say.
The Franchise Management Certificate Program, Oct. 25-27, is designed to present the pros and cons of franchising and help business owners “make an intellectual decision” on whether they want to get involved in this business format, said Carolyn Gough, executive director of the Franchise Center.
“It’s to empower potential entrepreneurs who are thinking about going into franchising,” Gough said.
“There’s over eight hours of legal advice, accounting, banking and marketing. It’s like a mini-MBA.”
Tuition is $875 through Oct. 19. After that, the cost will be $950.
“We let (participants) know what to look for in a good franchisor,” Gough said.
Marc L. Stelley, owner of El Paso’s LA Boxing franchise, attended the seminar in October 2004 and says it gives you the “tools to succeed in business.
