There is still no BEE on Spur’s menu
CAPE-based restaurant franchisor Spur Corporation is still short of that vital Black Economic Empowerment ingredient.
In the last 18 months Spur has been working hard at a recipe to add BEE flavour to its strong corporate profile. This followed unfortunate developments some years ago that saw the dismantling of Siphumelele Investments – Spur’s original empowerment partner.
According to Spur’s recent financial results, the group commissioned an independent consultant to review the operations in relation to the empowerment codes and develop a holistic empowerment strategy.
CEO Pierre van Tonder says the recent presentation of the findings highlighted various areas of the business where progress could be made in a relatively short period of time.
