Stelios, Easyjet founder, expands EasyHotel chain
Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the Easyjet founder, is set to expand his leisure empire after signing a new development deal for his fledgling hotel business.
EasyHotel, the budget chain set up three years ago, has signed a £50m agreement for the development of 10 hotels across Britain over the next three years. The plan comes hot on the heals of agreements signed over the past two months to open seven easyHotels in Austria and Portugal and one at Heathrow.
Easyhotel, which has six hotels in the UK, Hungary and Switzerland to date, plans to expand that to 60 across Europe and the Middle East by 2010. Splendid Hotel Group, an existing easyHotel franchisee with one site to its name, will invest £50m in developing the 10 sites.
