Bruegger’s franchisor gobbles up Triangle Bagels Inc.
A Morrisville-based franchisee of 14 Bruegger’s bakery cafes in the Triangle is getting gobbled up by the franchisor of the national bagel chain.
Burlington, Vt.- based Bruegger’s Enterprises Inc., has acquired Triangle Bagels Inc., the companies announced Friday. Terms were not disclosed. Bruegger’s is the second largest U.S. bagel bakery with 274 stores in 22 states, including stores owned and operated by 110 franchisees.
Bruegger’s also announced it acquired Bagel Factory Inc., an operator of five bagel bakeries in the Philadelphia area. Triangle Bagels was owned by Edward Davis. It was founded in 2001. Davis’ stores were part of Bruegger’s 32-store North Carolina footprint.
