COMIDA Assists Hot Dog Business
Rochester Democrat and Chronicle:
A new meat-packing business in Henrietta could create 74 jobs in the next three years and plans to open 300 hot dog restaurants nationwide.
Louis Casaceli, chief executive officer and co-principal of L&R Meats Inc., said his company will form Jimmie’s Meat Packing Co. Inc. as a combination of Conti Packing Co. Inc. and Jimmie’s World Famous Hots of Rochester.
Casaceli told board members of the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA) that it will buy the assets of Conti Packing, 2299 Brighton-Henrietta Town Line Road, Henrietta.
The company is finalizing the Conti purchase for about $1.3 million. The company operates now as L&R Meats Inc.
L&R plans to invest in new machinery and renovate Conti’s 28,000 square feet.
The COMIDA board approved an issue of tax-exempt industrial revenue bonds and a Jobs Plus property tax abatement of $76,053 over 10 years. The benefit to taxpayers will be $1.5 million over 10 years, according to Judy Seil, COMIDA’s executive director.
Casaceli said his company is one of the few in New York to box fresh products and cooked products. Sixty-five percent of the business is hot dogs. The company employs 13 workers.
Casaceli said the company’s aggressive growth plan is fueled by the franchising of a product called Jimmie’s World Famous Hots, a beef-pork hot dog. The company has more than $3 million in annual sales. Full article.
