Freaky Good Biz

It’s no secret what distinguishes Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches from other sub shops, local franchisee Mike Monahan said.
“We just serve them freaky fast and freaky good and keep them coming back,” he said.
The chain, which was founded by Jimmy John Liautaud and is based in Champaign, Ill., has streamlined the sandwich process by using only five meats, one cheese and two types of bread. The goal is to get customers their sandwiches before they receive their change or credit card receipt from the cashier.
“It’s a real simple concept built around a great product,” Monahan said. “We keep it simple, make it fast and make it good.”
What started as a way to occupy free time for the Monahans has expanded into a sandwich empire that includes four Columbia stores and 102 employees. Their locations produce about 10,000 sandwiches a week, Monahan said, and they have plans to expand. Full post.
