Schakolad Chocolate Factory Seeks Franchisee

When the franchise owners of Schakolad Chocolate Factory in West Knoxville told the Florida-based company they wanted to move on and close the store, Edgar Schaked made a decision to keep it open.
Schaked and his father, who co-founded the business in 1995, will be taking turns traveling every other week to Knoxville to run the store until they find a local franchisee they can sell the store to.
“It’s a very unique store and a very unique area. People like it. We had a choice. We could just close it and continue our lives in Florida or we could come and try to keep it open,” Schaked said.
The Schaked family have done this one other time with a store in Virginia Beach.
