Sales Of Home Buddies By Camp Bow Wow® Franchises Going Dog-Gone Wild!

Introduced In December ‘08, Over 12 Franchises Already Sold
Home Buddies by Camp Bow Wow, the premier in-home pet care franchise introduced by Heidi Ganahl, the founder and CEO of Home Buddies and Camp Bow Wow Doggy Day and Overnight Camps®, sold over a dozen franchise units in just six months since the new franchise was launched.
With another 5 commitments scheduled to close in August, the company is growing faster than originally anticipated. The first 6 locations are already open in St. Claire Shores, MI; Lawrenceville and Bridgewater, NJ; Wilmington, DE, Racine, WI; and South West Dallas, TX. Five more are expected to open before the end of July and, it’s anticipated that another 5 will be open by the end of September.
Growth projections have been revised upward with 30 to 35 Home Buddies expected to be open by the end of the year.
“In the current economic climate, with individual net worth reduced by 30 to 40%, people are less willing to assume risk and are looking for lower cost businesses to start,” said Ganahl.
“The initial investment in a Home Buddies franchise is low enough that the majority of our new owners have been able to use their own cash resources. That and the low overhead required to maintain the business make Home Buddies an attractive opportunity. Our investors also seem more comfortable with taking a step towards company ownership knowing that Home Buddies is backed by the successful Camp Bow Wow brand.”
While all of the owners come from different backgrounds, all share a love for animals and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Interestingly, about 50% of the first Home Buddies by Camp Bow Wow franchise owners already own an open Camp Bow Wow franchise. Feedback from them indicates that they see Home Buddies as a way to capture business they’ve had to refer out in the past – pet sitting for cats, birds, fish, reptiles and dogs that don’t meet Camp Bow Wow requirements (they’re not spayed/neutered, have an aggressive temperament or need special care) – and become an all inclusive resource for their clients. Of the other 50%, many have purchased Home Buddies an entree into the pet services industry and plan to open a Camp Bow Wow Doggy Day and Overnight Camp in the future. From their perspective, a Home Buddies franchise provides a way to develop a client base and build credibility within the industry, making them more attractive to SBA lenders in the future.
