Mom And Dad Coaches Open Niche Sports Store In Clinton Township
After years of traveling from store to store to buy apparel and gear for their child athletes, a father-and-mother team and their partners have put everything for school athletics under one roof.
Doug Dickison and his wife, Rose, of Union Township, have supported their two children in school sports competition for about 15 years, as parents and as coaches.
Dickison said he would go from store to supplier to Web site to find all the uniforms, equipment and supplies for each different sport, not to mention spirit wear and trophies for each school.
The Dickisons have partnered with friends Joe and Shereen Cannavo of Stewartsville and Tom and Katharine Lawrence of Union Township to open a new retail store called Destination Athlete, dedicated to school athletics. And the Dickisons are also franchising the concept nationally.
