Franchisers Expect To Exceed Last Year’s P13-B Revenues

The Association of Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI) expects this year to top its 2008 consolidated revenues of around P13 billion, as members report brisker franchise applications, with Filipinos looking for investments over which they have greater control, the group’s officials said yesterday.
In a briefing yesterday, AFFI President Rommel T. Juan said the figure was based on the estimated gross sales of the over 4,000 outlets of its 80 members.
He declined to provide a specific target for this year, saying only that the group’s stores has grown by an average annual rate of 20%-25% for the past 12 years.
“Last year they were hesitant to get in because they were uncertain what was going to happen,” Mr. Juan said.
“But now, investor confidence is back up… This year, there are more franchise applicants.”
AFFI public relations officer Richard V. Sanz attributed the group’s growth to Filipinos’ desire to have greater control of their investments, which other investment options like stocks and mutual funds do not offer.
