Franchise Makes Fast Food Healthy

Fast food and eating healthy do not usually go hand-in-hand, but Muscle Maker Grill has been striving to change that notion with its new chain serving what company officials say is healthy, yet delicious, food.
“There are eight gyms in a five-mile radius, with nowhere for people to go and eat healthy,” said Keith Paul, owner of the Toms River franchise of Muscle Maker Grill, which opened in August. “The concept is phenomenal, and there’s such a market out there for it. You can be in and out within a half hour.”
Promoted as “great food with your health in mind,” Muscle Maker Grill was started in the Colonia section of Woodbridge in 1995 by Rod Silva, and has now expanded to 14 franchises in operation and more than 200 sold. Aside from the Toms River location, the chain locally has restaurants in Brick, Manalapan, Red Bank and Middletown, with more planned for Freehold, Howell, Long Branch, Matawan and Ocean Township.
