Sonny Bryan’s Announces Plans To Sell Franchises
Brent Harman, president and chief executive of Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse, repeated the question, then paused to ponder: Can an iconic brand also be a national chain?
“I don’t know,” he said. “I certainly hope so.”
Harman’s Dallas-based chain, which counted food connoisseur Julia Child among its fans, announced Monday that it would grow via franchising for the first time in the company’s 51 years.
Beautiful Brands International of Tulsa, Okla., said it would handle franchise sales, marketing, real estate, architecture and other services for the popular chain. Beautiful Brands will not be an owner or a franchisee but will be paid through fees from the franchisor and franchisees.
The chain could add as many as 50 locations within five years, Harman said.
But the Dallas-Fort Worth area will remain company-owned territory, he said. There are no plans for new eateries here in the near term. Read more.
