Alamo Brews Up New Franchise Deal

About two years ago, Austin teenager Geoffrey Abdallah told his father, a restaurant industry veteran, that he really needed to check out the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema franchise.
“You need to go,” Geoffrey, a big fan of the movie-with-a-restaurant concept, told Norman Abdallah, co-founder of the Carino’s Italian grill chain.
That conversation later sparked Abdallah’s interest in franchising the Alamo concept. It eventually set in motion the deal announced Monday for Abdallah and a team of investors to add Alamo theaters in six Texas markets in the coming years.
Abdallah joined forces with Austin entrepreneur Neil Billingsley-Michaelsen to add theaters in San Marcos, Houston, Corpus Christi and several West Texas communities.
Their venture, called Triple Tap Ventures LLC, has also purchased two existing Alamo locations in Houston.
