Good Strategy Key To Franchisor Success

In a world of continuing global economic uncertainty, it seems that foreign investors are viewing Viet Nam as a promised land. This is particularly so in the franchise sector, in which Viet Nam has previously lagged behind the rest of Asia.
In spite of its late start, Viet Nam is seeing an unprecedented level of interest from the international franchise community. The recent Viet Nam International Franchise Show in HCM City, for instance, attracted over 150 international exhibitors.
One of the reasons for this increased interest is the opening of Viet Nam’s retail distribution market to foreign investors as of January 1, 2008, consistent with the nation’s WTO commitments. Another is the country’s rapidly growing economy which continues to outperform those of most Southeast Asian economies, according to the recent Viet Nam Food and Drink Report.
Viet Nam is also being courted by potential international and local franchisors because of its stable politics and fast growing, consumer-oriented population, approximately 70 per cent of whom are under 30. The aspiring urban middle class has increasing disposable income and an insatiable appetite for quality goods and Western brands. More.
