Pizza Fusion Franchise Fever
![]()
Many unemployed Americans have found a way to get back to work. They’re buying franchises. The options seem endless, from a chain restaurant to a dent-removal firm, even a hair salon. As Jeff Yastine reports, when the economy heads south, interest in franchising goes up.
JEFF YASTINE, NIGHTLY BUSINESS REPORT CORRESPONDENT: Meet Kris Adam. He used to sell cars — Porsches. Now, he sells pizza. Two years ago, Adam became a franchisee of Fort Lauderdale-based Pizza Fusion with its concept of organic pies and green-certified storefront restaurants. Like many businesses, he had some dicey moments last year as the economy soured. But he doesn`t regret the switch.
KRIS ADAM, FRANCHISEE, PIZZA FUSION: It was a decision that I had to make for the rest of my life and it was something that I wanted — I wanted to do something that mattered more than just putting more Porsches on the road. It was something that I was passionate about. It`s an opportunity to teach more people about what organic means and the health benefits.
